To be eligible for the $1,500 scholarship, the recipient must be a child of a Sacred Heart Central, Kennedy Memorial, Bishop Chartrand or Roncalli alumnus. They also must be a senior who has attended Roncalli for three years and present a 500-word essay sharing their feelings and experiences about the “Spirit of the Family Tradition.” Kathleen’s mother was a member of Roncalli’s Class of 1981. Kathleen’s family attends SS. Francis and Claire Parish. Kathleen is a member of the Roncalli golf team, lettering all four years, earning all-county honors last year and is the team’s No. 1 player. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has been honored as student-of-the-month in marketing and student-of-the-year in communications.

(SUBMITTED PHOTO) South Grove Intermediate School held its annual “Family Fun Night” recently with a variety of activities. Reading activities for students was promoted with a poster contest of their favorite book. First place went to Kyrstin Farr, “I Survived the Shark Attack of 1916,’. The night was sponsored by the Beech Grove Education Foundation that provided free A.P. books and flash cards for students. Special personnel included Beech Grove police and fire department personnel; Beech Grove public library branch; Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; Boys and Girls clubs; and The Southsider Voice columnist Fred Shonk and therapy dog Stuart. |
