![]() By Al Stilley Senior staff writer Roncalli girls basketball coach Stan Benge reached another milestone when winning his 600th game Nov. 16 as the visiting Rebels dominated Crispus Attucks, 54-27. The Rebels led 29-10 at the half and rolled to their third win of the season. Nine Rebels scored and were led by Abbi Carr, 12 points, and Maddie Bischoff, 10 points. Benge, a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, is one of only four coaches in the state to win at least 600 games. He has a 600-154 record over 31 seasons, including his last five campaigns at Roncalli, where he is 81-28. He coached 26 seasons at Ben Davis, winning four state titles and posting a record 81-game winning streak. The Rebels (3-2) lost Saturday to rival Cathedral 49-46 with Alana Vinson scoring 18 points and Bischoff 13. The host Irish rallied after Roncalli led 39-32 at the end of three quarters. |
