SUBMITTED PHOTO Boy Scout Troop 39 and Cub Scout Pack 39 will participate in the annual Scouting for Food program, which runs from March 14 through April 19. The boys will go door to door collecting nonperishable food items for the community’s needy. The national campaign will net Boy Scouts of America millions of pounds of food. If the Scouts miss your home and you want to donate, contributions can be dropped off at Southport United Methodist Church, 1947 E. Southport Road. Erin Rooney, an eighth-grader at Nativity Catholic School, is a semifinalist in the Indiana National Geographic Bee, which will be held April 1 in Indianapolis. Erin won the school’s contest earlier this year and qualified for the state meet via an online test. The winner of the state meet will advance to the national championship in Washington, D.C., in May. |
