The enduring Shakespeare tale of Romeo and Juliet is adapted and taken to the streets of New York City’s West Side. After meeting at a dance, Maria (Courtney Cheatham) and Tony (Glenn DeVar) become star-crossed lovers caught between the opposing gangs. But they are able to find love despite the ongoing tension of prejudice, hate and rebellion that surrounds them. Tickets range from $42.50 to $67.50 and include a buffet dinner. Lutheran High School’s cheer team won three gold ribbons and a second-place trophy in the small varsity category at Ball State University’s cheer camp. Coached by Leah Cashmer and Jamie Morton, the squad features (in no particular order) Kenzie Sickmeier, Janessa Schaeffer, Clair Tabit, Elayna Brock, Elise Miller, Madi Christian, Annie Ventura, Hayleigh Patton, Randi Zulkowski, Kylie Sechrest, Molly Phipps, Gracie Kowell, Hannah Christian and Haley Harris. Phipps and Sickmeier were named Universal Cheerleaders Association All-Americans and were invited to represent the organization in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day and London New Year’s Eve parades, respectively. Sechrest was named an outstanding leader. |
