![]() SUBMITTED PHOTO The Kiwanis Indiana District Foundation – Capitol Division has presented a $1,000 scholarship to Southport senior Ring Te, and the Kiwanis Club of Perry Township has awarded a $750 scholarship to Roncalli senior Samantha “Sam” Curtis. Both are members of the National Honor Society. Te was recognized for his leadership roles and academic excellence. He was honored for his efforts as an outgoing vice president of the Southport Key Club, the Kiwanis youth affiliate, said Steve Hadley, scholarship chairman. Te plans to pursue a career as a family physician at Indiana University. Samantha, who intends to study neuroscience at IU, was singled out for the scholarship by Roncalli’s Guidance Department because of her academic record and her participation on the softball team and other activities, Hadley said.

Perry Meridian Sixth Grade Academy has named its Students of the Month for April. The children were recognized for following the school’s R.O.A.D. to success program. R.O.A.D. stands for respecting your peers, owning your education, addressing adults appropriately and demonstrating good behavior. The children received freebies from several businesses, including Wheels of Wonder, and were treated to a catered lunch by Papa John’s and Chick-fil-A.
