Hibbard, who will officially resume his duties July 1, comes to the township from New Albany Floyd County Schools, where he served as superintendent for the past eight years. He previously was assistant superintendent of Washington Township Schools in Indianapolis for three years.
Hibbard earned his bachelor’s degree from Ball State, master’s from Butler and Ph.D. from Indiana State.
“We are excited to have Dr. Hibbard join the Franklin Township community,” said Scott Sullivan, school board president. “His previous experience and leadership will help guide our school corporation into the future. Dr. Hibbard has a proven track record of not only focusing on the kids but creating an engaging and collaborative environment that will continue to strengthen our schools and staff.”
The board of school trustees received more than 20 applications for the position. After interviewing seven candidates, the search was narrowed down to Hibbard as the finalist.
The school district, which has more than 1,000 employees, consists of seven elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school with an enrollment of more than 9,100 students.
