Franklin Central Ethan Williams and Tara Kalia, Perry Meridian's Dawttiniang Phuting, Roncalli's Katie Baker and Southport's Clara Oesterling are among the 25 high schoolers who have been selected to serve on Mayor Joe Hogsett's Youth Leadership Council. The students will represent the interests of Indianapolis youth, providing insight and feedback for the mayor and other city leaders on issues that affect the community.
The council will help develop the next generation of Indianapolis leaders and elevate young people’s role in making Indianapolis a safer, stronger and more welcoming city, Hogsett said. “As a growing city and burgeoning tech hub, our youth will inherit an Indianapolis that is very different from the one we grew up in,” he said. This group of talented and versatile students will have a voice in shaping that future city. And when the time comes, I am confident the next generation will be prepared to lead our community. |
