SUBMITTED PHOTO Coaches vs. Cancer, a fundraiser for the Beech Grove Relay for Life team, was held between the Beech Grove High School girls and boys basketball games Jan. 9. The benefit, which was organized by coach Matt English (right) and wife Angela (second from left), Amy (left) and John Jennings and coach Mark Parker (second from right) featured booths where people could purchase snacks and merchandise. There were also photographs of families and people who have battled cancer, and these people were presented purple carnations. Of the five families honored, two are battling cancer and were presented with checks to help cover some of their medical costs. Members of the sophomore class purchased the most paper ribbons in a fundraising effort and were rewarded with the opportunity to throw pies at the faces of their favorite teachers.
