1155 E. Cameron St. 783-7759 www.centralcatholicindy.org Enrollment: 213 Principal: Kelly England Central Catholic School was founded in 1974 as a consolidation of St. Patrick, Sacred Heart, St. James and St. Catherine grade schools. At that time the school was located on multiple campuses using the existing school buildings. In 1996 the school further consolidated into one building, on the campus of what is now Good Shepherd Parish. We are in our 19th year at 1155 E. Cameron St., where we serve the pupils of Good Shepherd, St. Patrick, Sacred Heart and Holy Rosary, as well as the neighborhood surrounding the school. Our mission, as always, is to serve the Catholic community and the greater community in a Catholic way. The majority of our pupils live within a 2-mile radius of the school and represent a variety of racial, ethnic and faith backgrounds. Families interested in learning more about our educational opportunities are encouraged to arrange a tour. Why did I choose Catholic education? Because it is in my blood. I attended Catholic school from kindergarten through 12th grade and earned my bachelor’s degree from Marian College. I always knew I wanted to go into education, and choosing to serve in a parochial school felt like home to me. Education is more than a career to me, it is my vocation. Serving in a Catholic school allows me to share my faith with students and families while having an impact on academic achievement. What is your favorite event of the year? My favorite “event” of the school year actually takes place four times annually. At the end of each quarter we celebrate with an honors day, where we award students for their achievements and for reaching their accelerated reader goals. I love celebrating student achievements as it is truly inspirational to see the pride in our students as they are recognized for their accomplishments. That pride is matched on the faces of our teachers as they celebrate even the smallest achievements by their students. I believe it impacts our students and our teachers by motivating them to do their best at all times. |
