Benefit Walk for Woman Who Needs Surgery
A 5K fundraising walk for Klancy Klaiber, who doesn’t have insurance to have a pineal cyst removed from her brain, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Southeastway Park, 5624 S. Carroll Road, New Palestine. The entry fee is $25, and participants can preregister by emailing [email protected] and asking for a form. Card Party and Quilt Raffle

Historical Society Will Hear About Antiques, Collectibles
Joe Seiter, an antique collector who has an impressive postcard collection, will be the guest speaker when the Southport/Perry Township Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Perry Township Education Center, 6548 Orinoco Ave. His presentation, complete with some photographs and collectibles, will cover the antiques and collections that are displayed at the Indiana State Fair, of which he has participated in for more than 40 years.
Campfire Nights at Greenwood Amphitheatre
Southport Christian Church will continue its Campfire Nights program at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Greenwood Amphitheatre, just south of the intersection of Main and Meridian streets and behind the fire station. Fundraising Walk for Diabetes Association
The Indiana Step Out Walk to benefit the American Diabetes Association will get under way at 10 a.m. Saturday at Celebration Plaza, 801 W. Washington St. Participants can choose between 5K and 2-mile walks along Central Canal. The walks will raise awareness that 25 percent of Hoosiers who have diabetes don’t know it. The event will also feature education advocacy, snacks, games, prizes and activities for all ages. Attendees can enjoy zumba routines, warm-up exercises and music from a disc jockey. Calvary Lutheran Will Host Book Sale and Health Fair
A book sale and a health and safety fair will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church and School, 6111 Shelby St. All hardbacks and paperbacks are $1 and 50 cents, respectively. The health fair will feature information on diabetes, home health care, services for seniors, flu vaccines, a blood drive and therapy dogs. There will also be a recycling drive for eyeglasses.
