CHRISTMAS AT THE ZOO STARTS SATURDAY
For the first time in its 51-year history, Christmas at the Zoo will begin before Thanksgiving with the opening Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Indianapolis Zoo. The traditional event continues daily through Dec. 30, closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and day. The zoo opens at noon and Christmas at the Zoo activities go from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., extended until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Many of the zoo’s more robust animals — tigers, red pandas, brown bears, walrus and more — will be out to enjoy the cooler weather. The zoo’s many indoor exhibits offer a perfect place for guests to warm up. Colorful light displays are part of Christmas at the Zoo. And Santa Claus will be on hand at Santa’s Village under the Bicentennial Pavilion. Local choirs also fill the night with Christmas carols. Info at: IndianapolisZoo.com.
