The celebration gets underway at 8 p.m. with 87 Southbound performing. Taking the stage at 9:15 p.m. will be Standout Story, with the headlining band, the electronic dance group the Jump Smokers, performing at 10:30.
The event also features a countdown to midnight inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse. At 11:59 a.m. an IndyCar hoisted above the outside crowd will descend, with fireworks at midnight.
For the younger crowd, The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis will host a countdown to noon. The cost ranges from $18.50 to $22.50 and includes activities, party favors and music from Grammy-nominated Zak Morgan.
New Year’s Eve will be celebrated from 6-9 p.m. at the Indiana State Museum, where the entertainment includes jugglers, face painting, rides on a miniature train and a balloon drop. Reservations are recommended and can be arranged by calling 317-232-1637.
Other celebrations will be held at The Athenaeum Theatre, The Rathskeller, the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, Union Station, Regions Bank Tower, The Pavilion at Pan Am, Howl at the Moon and the Hard Rock Cafe.
