The redesigned galleries will showcase the exhibition “Attitudes: The West in American Art,” which feature iconic paintings and sculptures from the museum’s renowned collection as well as newly acquired artworks, including a dramatic Western landscape, a historical scene of mountains and pottery.
The exhibition explores the diversity of people who shaped the West through a high-tech interactive display that interprets the 20th century mural painting “Americanization of California.” A series of special events will launch the exhibit, and the opening will kick off a holiday season of activities and programming that will appeal to families.
The Christmas model train display, “Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure,” returns Nov. 17. More information about the museum, 500 West Washington St., is available by visiting www.eiteljorg.org or calling 317-636-9378.
