Mayor Greg Ballard’s Veterans Family Appreciation Day at Garfield Park, 2450 Shelby St., on Saturday will feature a free fish fry and picnic, music, games, and a classic car show. Senior Promise Will Host Strawberry Festival
Franciscan St. Francis Health’s Senior Promise is hosting its Spring Fling Strawberry Festival from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Sarah T. Bolton Park, 1300 Churchman Ave., Beech Grove. The event will feature free strawberry shortcake, entertainment and door prizes. In the event of inclement weather, the festival will be moved to Altenheim Senior Living, 3525 E. Hanna Ave.
Baxter YMCA Will Host Senior Health Fair
Baxter YMCA, 7900 Shelby St., will host its annual spring health fair for seniors from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. How Have Saints and/or Holy People Influenced Your Life?
A four-week workshop that will ask participants to consider how certain saints and holy people have influenced their lives will run from 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays, May 21, through June 11 at the Benedict Inn and Conference Center, 1402 Southern Ave., Beech Grove. Sisters Julie Sewell and Annie Endris said the program, which costs $45, is intended to be fun and spiritual.
