GARDENING CLASSES
A series of free gardening classes offered by Purdue Extension begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Bethany Community Gardens, 4701 S. PAGODA DRIVE BRIDGE CLOSED
New bridge construction on Pagoda Drive over Pleasant Run will affect access to Garfield Park’s Burello Family Center and other areas of Garfield Park. Detours will be posted throughout the park. Vehicular traffic is to utilize Pleasant Run Parkway to Madison Avenue to Southern Avenue. Walkers and bikers should use the Pleasant Run greenway and footbridge over Bean Creek. The bridge will be closed until fall.
CELLTOWER HEARING RESET TUESDAY
The Metropolitan Board of Zoning Appeals will hear a postponed variance request for a proposed 135-foot communication tower on Perry Township Schools property Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the public assembly room on the second floor of the City-County Building. The hearing was postponed from Feb. 5 due to remonstrance. Skyway Towers LLC and FTE Moilnet of Indiana seek a special exception for the tower between Southport Middle and Clinton Young Elementary schools. Verizon seeks to improve its 4G coverage and wireless network reliability with the tower. The City-County Building is at 200 E. Washington St.

GRAND OPENING OF GPL STUDIO
The Studio – a re-imagining of library space that offers an opportunity for makers of all ages to create, explore, tinker, and learn – opens March 8-9 at the Greenwood Library. The Studio consists of an area for audio and video where patrons can record YouTube videos and broadcasts or make stop-animation films. The AV studio includes free access to audio recorder, a high-end camera, microphones, a photography light box and more. EITELJORG OPENS FOR 30TH YEAR
The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art launches its 30th year with a new exhibit March 9 that showcases the beauty of native American art. “A Sense of Beauty: Showcasing Power and Beauty in Native Art” displays jewelry, baskets, and pottery. Kachina carvings will be on display, beginning March 30. Eiteljorg will host a 30th anniversary party, March 29. ESKENAZI VOLUNTEEN PROGRAM
Eskenazi Health is accepting applications for its annual VolunTEEN summer program for teenagers, 14 to 19 years old, to preview a path to becoming health care professionals. Applicants must be 14 years old by April 12. The teens will be mentored in nursing, therapy, medicine and health care. Two separate four-week summer sessions are offered.
